Adoption: How to Get Started (Plays and Musicals)
Time: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

A Connecticut Adoption and Family Services worker will explain different types of adoption and offer a step-by-step outline to adopting a child. Adoption of infants from within the United States, as well as the adoption of children from countries through which Connecticut Adoption and Family Services facilitates adoptions from, will be discussed. This fun filled family orientated day will feature camp and waterfront activities, special events, time to renew friendships and end with a campfire and candlelighting ceremony. Bring your bathing suit, hiking boots, climbing shoes, family and friends and be prepared for an exciting day at Camp Hazen YMCA.Registration begins at 11:00 am. The Stonington Borough Fire Department is sponsoring its annual lobster night, Saturday, August 14th, 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Fire House, 100 Main St, Stonington. The meal will consist of lobster, clam chowder, corn on the cob, and soda/water. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from any member of the Stonington Borough Fire Department. Hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available. This event is the annual fund raiser for the Stonington Borough Fire Department.

Subase Security & Safety Bike Show 2 (Community Event)
Time: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Subase NLON, Groton, CT 06349

On Sunday the 29th of August 2010 from 1100-1300 the Submarine Base Commanding Officer is again hosting a Motorcycle Security and Safety Bike Show. The focus is motorcycle safety, mentorship and law enforcement. There will be Motorcycle Safety Foundation Instructors with a small display of the courses available, motorcycles used and motorcycle driving simulator. There will also be examples of suggested and required riding equipment such as helmets, glasses and gloves. We hope this show will be larger than the first and plan to support the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society with contributions accepted for that charity. Other than those contributions, the event is free and non-profit.
